Distributor
Wholesalers and distributors sell a vast array of cabling products to meet the varied needs of their customers.
With no cable test facilities at their disposal it is often based on trust that the products they buy do perform to the standards required. However there is evidence that up to 20% of the electrical cables being sold by distribution do not meet the standards they claim and therefore are non approved for the applications they end up in. The ACI aims to help the distribution channel identify potential non-approved cables through education on standards, cable markings and cable constructions. Additionally ACI is willing to carry out independent testing on any suspect cable the distribution channel highlights. If a wholesaler or distributor is found to be deliberately selling or specifying non-approved cables then the ACI will work with the appropriate trade bodies to bring action against those involved as well as communicate its findings to the market.
