Electrical Safety Council

The Electrical Safety Council is a registered charity committed to reducing deaths and injuries caused by electrical accidents. The organisation is supported by all sectors of the electrical industry as well as local and central government.

The Charity, through its activities and partnerships, aims to ensure that consumers’ needs are recognised and that issues of safety are given the appropriate priority. This includes:

As well as running general awareness campaigns and events to help educate consumers about the dangers of electricity, the Charity also runs campaigns and initiatives covering specific areas of risk such as product safety, fire safety and child safety.

The Approved Cable Initiative

The Approved Cables Initiative has been established to address the issue of unsafe, non-approved and counterfeit cable entering the UK marketplace. The first initiative of its kind in the electrical industry the ACI is direct in its approach to investigate and publicise the findings of cables found to be faulty, counterfeit or non-compliant with British, European or International Standards.
