British Cables Association

The British Cables Association (BCA) is the trade association for British Manufacturers and Associate Companies manufacturing insulated cables, wires and accessories. BCA has a professional staff and is always available to provide the latest information about the industry.

BCA has a federal structure, with product sectors serving the interests of those manufacturers with particular product ranges. There are currently five such Sectors:

  • Energy Cables
  • Supertension Cables
  • Communications Cables
  • Covered Conductors
  • Accessories

In addition there is a group providing a forum for discussion of environmental matters.

The BCA contributes to the development of British, European and International Standards and helps publish codes of practice and guides to safe manufacturing and usage. BCA undertakes collection and dissemination of industry statistics on a confidential basis to its members. It is also co-operating with the Office of National Statistics to attempt to improve the quality of the official statistics on the industry.

Membership to BCA is available to manufacturers that are substantial and well-established companies. Current membership is shown in detail at http://www.bcauk.org/ and represents approximately 80% of the Industry.
